Climate Change: The Earth Will Survive, But Will We?
Progress is Impossible Without Change
Have you ever thought about what people do in order to combat climate change? Me too. America itself has had some pretty incredible responses to climate change. From walkouts to state regulations and national precautions. We're looking progress straight in the face and our fight has already started.Do Walkouts Really Work?
Walkouts do work, they draw attention and depending on how big they are they make state wide or even national television. September 20th though the 27th of 2019, people across the globe participated in the global climate strike. According to "Global Climate Strike," the strike brought record breaking 7.6 million people out of their homes to speak their minds about this issue. To me this is absolutely amazing. You never get to see the world come together very often, it's both heart warming and heart breaking at the same time. This particular walkout moved millions. The point of walkouts is to be heard by those in office to make a difference. Spreading knowledge and inspiring others is key to making a difference. This is the start to a new future.

There is about 100 companies around the world that are responsible for 71% of the greenhouse gas emissions (Jacobo). Which can really make you think about what you do everyday to increase this percentage. The littlest things we do can make a big difference in the long run.
People are greatly impacted by the faces of politics. All the protesters are livid because the big companies don't seem to be doing anything about this issue, they're looking to our politicians to create changes. These protesters will make a difference if they keep going and continue to speak out. The outcome of the protests were very successful causing many of us regain hope about the future of our planet.
Judge Politicians By Action Rather Than Promises
In the article I read, ¨What you can do to help prevent climate change according to experts¨ by Julia Jacobo, quoted President Donald Trump saying, ¨administration has made it a top priority to ensure that America has among the very cleanest air and cleanest water on the planet¨. Since 2017 the Trump administration has shelled out 85 different environmental protections. Proving how Trump does acknowledge the issues as our countries leader, and has decided to pick up a weapon and help us fight. New York had passed a legislation that will hopefully have them be completely carbon-neutral by 2050 (Jacobo). This will set an example for other states to follow in it's path to help save mother Earth. Many people have already started their own little acts to cut down waste to help combat this issue.

Keep Moving Forward
With all these new precautions, we are indeed starting to make progress on reversing the effects of greenhouse gasses. But we can't give up now. We need to continue for years to come until it's fixed. If this issue ever resolves, we will still need to continue to maintain the balance to keep our earth clean. Next time think about what you're doing to our planet when you use that plastic water bottle. Every little thing counts.
How many plastic water bottles do you use a year? Comment below.

I like how engaging the story is with many pictures and easy to read info
ReplyDeleteThanks Teddy! I worked really hard on it, I really appreciate it. :)
DeleteHi Paige!,
ReplyDeleteYou did an amazing job with your blog!, I really like how you expressed your opinion on climate change and how awesome it is that people did a walk out which is truly heartwarming, and the climate issue is heartbreaking which I feel too, what can we do to stop climate change?
Hi Charlotte! Thank you so much for your comment! You can do a ton of simple things to combat this issue. For example, you can use a reusable water bottle instead of always buying new plastic ones, you can also cut back on plastic bags you use to store food or use at the grocery store. I’m so glad you want to make a difference!
DeleteAfter reading and analyzing your blog I think you did a fantastic job. There are a lot of key features about your blog that make it an effective writing piece. The structure and format of your blog is clean and organized. It isn't just large bodies of text on the screen, there's sub headers separating each body of text. Including two images in your blog was a good idea because it makes the blog less boring. If the blog was just text I wouldn't be as intrigued and I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. The usage of many quotes and data/statistics overall made the writing piece more effective and helped collect all your ideas together. In my opinion, the whole blog is done very well and nothing should be changed. Unless if there are spelling or grammatical mistakes.
ReplyDeleteHi Rory! Thank you so much your comment was so sweet! Thank you for you feedback I really appreciate it.
DeleteI generally use metal water bottles, but certainly have plastic beverages occasionally. Working on it.
ReplyDeleteYour post is organized well, with good specifics. You might want to re-read the section of the article about Trump though. Doesn't it say that he's "rolled back" that number of regulations?
And how exactly is New York going about becoming carbon neutral?
I enjoy how easy your article is to read, it's organized and you seem to get your point across.
ReplyDeleteHi Ian, thanks so much for the positive feedback, I worked very hard on this. I’m so glad you liked it!
DeleteI think that the Walkouts do attract attention, tho when we hear that people get ran over by cars and fights break out, Their must be a better way to make people hear what they got to say
ReplyDeleteHi Joe, I can agree with part of you comment, a lot of the time walkouts don't cause fights like that but it can happen. What would you suggest to make it better?
